Hibben Old West Bowie

Hibben Old West Bowie Reviews

Other Picture

This knife is an actual copy of a typical Bowie knife of the 1830s. The story of the Bowie began on a sandbar of the Mississippi River above Natchez, Mississippi on September 19, 1827. A brawl that eventually involved Col. James "Jim" Bowie, who, having been shot and stabbed, successfully defended himself killing Major Norris Wright and wounding Alfred Blanchard with what onlookers described as a "large butcher knife." This and other tales of Bowie's abilities with a knife led to the widespread popularity of what became known as the "Bowie" knife. Bowie joined the Texas militia at the beginning of the Texas Revolution. Legend has it that Bowie died in his bed, knife at his side, after emptying his pistols into numerous Mexican soldiers: This elegant recreation offers a hardwood handle accented by the brass-plated blade catcher and guard which are reminiscent of the styling of original bowies. The classic 14" 420 Stainless steel blade features a crisp mirror finish. Included is a genuine leather sheath with brass plated star and Hibben Knives. Overall Length 20 1/2". Blade Length 14". Blade Thickness 3/16". Tang Push tang. Blade Material 420 Stainless Steel. Handle Material Hardwood. Packaging Full-color box.
